So it's been a while.
A lot has happened since I last wrote on here as I'm sure you can imagine. The last updates were regarding our shows at SXSW and in New York. We had amazing shows over there but our situation - being managerless and having to fund the trip by taking bar jobs etc - put our personal relationships under a lot of stress. We came back from the States and didn't really speak for a while, it seemed like Longview might be over. We re-grouped for a show in Hamburg that we had committed to a long time before. This was really what we needed, we had an amazing show over there and were even joined onstage by a musical hero of mine Mark Gardener. We came back much more positive and started to talk about getting back in the studio and finishing album two. This wasn't the end of the set backs. Some personal issues and a remnant of ill feeling prevented us from going back to work on the record. Sessions were set back by lack of funds, a degree of homelessness and having to move out of our studio in Whitechapel.
We set up our new studio in Cricklewood. We moved all our stuff in in August but it has taken until last week to get the place up and functioning. In the meantime we continued with some sessions at Adrian Hall's great studio in Sutton, Surrey.
The record is about eighty percent complete. A lot of the remainder of the work to be done is vocals and then some finishing touches. There are a couple of tracks which we feel might need a complete overhaul and so we might do another session with the fourth drummer of the record in the seventh studio. Is that ridiculous?
We still feel that this set of songs is the best we've ever had. Now finally the carrot seems within grasp - even in the next few weeks. This is hard for even me to believe.
Thanks if you're still out there listening...and waiting...
Doug
